All set up

I am completely finished moving in, everything is put away nice and neat, I cleaned up the place, and just ate my first meal (if you consider hot pockets a meal... I do).
It actually feels nice here, but I'm sure it will feel so much better when I get the next place.

I spoke with Killa today, he seemed pretty happy and obviously said he's going to move in here. He gets back on the 2nd but says he wont be able to move in for at least a week after that.

I'm still not 100% what the terms of my little prop are going to be, for now I'm thinking 1,500 games, $10,000 profit. Tomorrow is the start of it so I'd better make up my mind soon.
Again I'm going to be blogging about it every day, so stay tuned :)

Here are some pics of the place
can't find my digi so took these w iphone

idk what that little rat thing is on the bed.

I guess I'm going to hit the tables for a little bit now. Later.

Moving In

OK so I rented a 2/2 on a month-to-month basis from a friend of my sister. Basically she's trying to sell this place but in the meantime is renting it out to me. If she gets it sold I have 2 weeks notice to pack up and leave.
The rent is relatively cheap for a 2/2. The place itself is nice, it's in the same community I was just living in (hate the staff) so it's pretty convenient for my situation.
I just got back from setting up the place after a trip to Walmart for basically everything (food, dishes, laundry-room stuff, etc). I'm spending this last night at my friends house and in the morning I'll take the 2 or 3 trips to bring all of my belongings over there. I'm all set, I even went to Comcast and setup the broadband.

Killa get's back on the 2nd of Jan. I haven't got a hold of him yet so he doesn't know about this place but I'm going to ask him to room with me here so we can both get a feel for rooming together and I can start working more with him on his game right away. If he turns this down it will be pretty annoying.
I'm still looking for houses in the area as I don't plan on staying in this new place for more than a month or two. If the situation with Killa doesn't work out then I may just pack up and live with WCG|Rider in Vegas for a while and maybe just buy my own house a little down the road.

I haven't played any poker in the last two days because of the whole moving in/out situation. I've been pretty busy. But tomorrow or the day after tomorrow I should be back to the grind, harder than ever.
Which brings me to my next thought. I'm thinking about doing some kind of personal prop. Something like playing more than 1500 games and profiting more than $10,000. I'm still deciding on the exact details. But whatever I do I've decided I'm going to do daily blog updates because I feel like that will help me keep on track. It's kind of hard to slack off when you have to remind yourself every night in front of an audience how much you have to do and how much of it you did that day. Hopefully that will be entertaining for you guys.
Maybe you can help me decide on the details. Just remember that I only 9 table, and I play higher stakes so the games don't load really fast (often I'm just 6 tabling waiting for other games). Any ideas are appreciated.

Any way, I've got to get some sleep. Tomorrow I'm turning in the keys to my old place and moving the rest of my shit out of here and into the new place.

Wish me luck.

Moving on out

I saved a little dog last night. I was driving home and saw her running in the street and had to swerve in front of the other car to stop them from hitting her. I chased her down and took her in my car... long story... but I luckbox into finding her owners that night thanks to an ex girlfriend.
Felt really good. And of course it happened on Christmas.
Today I had to take my car in for a full detail because the dog was covered in dirt/mud/etc. Two and a half hours, brutal.

I'm moving out of my apartment. Today I packed up all my shit (I live pretty light) in some boxes and drove it to my friends house where I'm going to be staying for the next few weeks until me and Killa find the new house. The sooner the better.
I found an awesome 3/3 in a really high-end neighborhood. The house is amazing, all marble, really modern and a sick backyard area with BBQ station, great for entertaining. The only problem is it's probably out of Killab's $Range.

I'm excited to move into a new place, I'm just a bit down on myself for not having grinned more during the year to have enough money saved up to get basically whatever I want. Hopefully 2010 I work harder. (FWIW for the people reading my blog from SS, yeah cool wHip is not my only online poker account - and I've made more $ than you see on that account. I have only been playing on FTP/yeah cool wHip for a few months now).

My bestest buddy Kleath just cracked OPRs top 10 spot. CONGRATS KLEATH!
He's just a fucking beast and probably my 3rd favorite super hero next to Spiderman and Meteorman. It's pretty close between him and Blankman.
He gives me a shout out in the interview: READ HERE

Going to move some last things. Later.

edit: just an FYI to you readers. I really encourage leaving comments, I will respond.

sorry

Been meaning to update for a while but never get around to it. I'll try to bang out a quick update just so I don't have too much catching up to do on this later.

I didn't play many more games in Nov. because of the whole lung thing, but I broke about even for the few I played so the first week numbers are pretty much how the month went. Luckily nothing else came of the lung situation weeeeee.

December hasn't been very exciting. I started a volume prop-bet with killab101 but we decided to call that off last night, we're going to reschedule for a time when he isn't so busy.

I was up ~$5k on the month until last night where I played 104 games with a -50% ROI and lost like $2k. Luckily I randomly decided to play lower stakes to put in more volume and didn't run that bad at my normal stakes.

I'm going to be moving out of my place at the end of the month. Me and Killa should be renting out a house in Feb. so January is still up in the air for me. I'm not sure if I'm going to do a little road-trip to Vegas or just staying with a friend around this way for the month.

My parents have been going through some rough times financially because of the economy effecting their business. It's crazy to think how poor we were, how well they did for about 10-15 years, and it's turned right back around for them. I'm possitive they'll turn around again and be smarter with their money this time but for now I have to grind even harder because I'm going to be helping them out as much as I can with money.

Alright time for breakfast.

ALIVE!!

Saturday (11/08) I was getting ready for a birthday dinner my family was giving my mom when I started having chest pains when breathing. I tried to ignore it but it got bad enough that I went to the ER.
My resting heart rate was upwards of 125 bpm - I had X-Rays and CAT scans to rule out blood clots taken. Apparently I had some 3 sacs in my lungs that filled with air and one of them burst leaking air out and the air was putting pressure on everything most importantly my heart. The doctors were afraid other sacs might burst.
I spent the last 4 days in ICU hooked up to IV, EKG, Oxygen, giving blood, taking blood thinners, etc and was finally released today :).
I was starting to go crazy being all hooked up, unable to move, not allowed to get up from bed and not able to sleep for more than an hour at a time.

X-rays from today show that a lot of the air is gone and my vitals are normal again. I'm supposed to keep an eye for any symptoms for now and check back in a week. Hopefully this should just resolve itself from here on out.

I have to take it easy for a week or so and the doc specifically told me no stressful activities so I'm probably not going to be playing poker for at least a few days.

I'm really happy to be out and more importantly to be OK. I'm still a little nervous especially about going to sleep but I should get used to it again.

I've also apparently contracted pink eye while at the hospital and they gave me some drops for that but I think I can deal with that :)

First Week

The first week of October is over, and I'm really pleased with everything about it.
The last few months I've worked very hard on my game and I really feel like it's paying off.
I started 9 tabling again, and now it just feels so easy. I'm able to take notes, get reads on pretty much everyone, and still pay close attention to all of my hands.

This is the most grinding I've done in a long time.

Time Played: 34.4 hours
Games Played: 351
Winnings: $4,341
Rakeback/Bonus: $1,400~
---
Total: $5,741

It really feels good to actually put in hours, and even better to get good results. I need to remember this next time I'm running bad.

My lease expires at the end of December and I'm going to be looking for a new place. I've already got some options I'm considering including going to live in a really balla house with some really cool guys I've met from poker in vegas.

We'll see. For now I'm really tired and going to pass out. Good nite.

October results

I'm about to head out to a concert and then some house party with some friends, and I probably won't get much time to play before October ends so I'm going to call the month right now.

Games: 650
Winnings: $5,642
Rakeback: $1,544
Bonuses: $189
---
Monthly Total: $7,375

My volume is laughable but I did spend the entire month playing 6 or less tables, and often playing sets instead of continuous sessions while working heavily on my game. I spent hours and hours reviewing and studying again this month and I feel like I am getting better and learning more every day.
I'm really looking forward to playing next month and hopefully setting and achieving some goals.

gahhhhh bleh

Since the last update I had another almost $1k day, then I took another shot at the $119s and of course when I get 6 of them loaded up the internet stops working and my backup connection wouldn't work, I didn't figure out why until after I had already busted all of the tables.

I emailed FTP support about it because some player friends told me that FTP had refunded them for sessions that were disconnected on their own end (the players).
3 days later I get a reply, they said they reviewed a tournament and concluded that I had been disconnected, and refunded me. I wondered why they said they only reviewed the one, and only sent a refund for that game -- then I noticed the tournament number they gave me wasn't a tournament number I sent. After a quick search I found out the tournament number actually belonged to a HU sng game that I didn't even play in. And the tournament number wasn't even close to any tournament numbers I had sent in. Pretty funny.
I emailed back letting them know there was a mix-up, and that I had sent in 6 tournaments, not one. I got a reply back basically saying "sorry for the error, in fact it was [one of the tournaments i had sent]", still no mention of the other 5 so I'm waiting for another reply now. I know they don't really have to refund me so I don't want to complain about it but that's pretty funny.

I've been running pretty bad again, but for some reason my desire to play/improve has never been greater. The only things stopping me from putting in a ton more volume is having to kill sessions from tilting because of running bad and the fact that I'm only 6 tabling this month while working on my game.

Today was very stressful :p

It's 8am. I can't believe I'm back on this schedule but w/e. I'm going to sleep.

oops i did it again

not a long post this time, just wanted to brag.
took a redbull and played for ~3hours (only 41 games, 6 tabling sucks :( )

weeeeeeeeeeeeeee

OK I'm off to Wal-Mart to buy some random stuff.

good day, bad regs

The amount of regs (regular grinders, generally players who are break-even or better and play a lot of games) registering into games ontop of each other today was really frustrating.
I have a coding system for regs... 1, 2, 3, and 4.
1 = top player
2 = solid player, but has some leaks / possibly top player but not established yet.
3 = breakeven player. this player ranges from very slight winner to very slight loser, basically a break-even player, they aren't good players but they aren't good for the games either.
4 = possibly a good player but no sample size / reads to prove it yet.

When I opened the first lobby I see a 1, 2, and 3 registered, the only 3 players in the lobby. As I'm laughing at this a 4 registers behind. I don't care how good at poker you are this game is not worth playing, you'd just be burning your money.
These people really piss me off. They ruin the games for everyone, including themselves.
To the 1's credit he unregged after the 4th player (it's no wonder he makes more money than the other 3).

Any way it was like this for pretty much 2hrs straight (I'd check every 15 mins or so). I decided to give up, and went and got a haircut instead of playing.

A few hours later I took a look and no regs loading so decided it was time to go. I took a shot of 5hr Energy and took off.
I got to play for 2.5hrs before the reg-on-reg action started again at which point I decided it was better to just call it a night.
I played really solid and ran really good over the 21 games I got in.

Haven't had one of these days in a while.

Was soooo close to being a $1k+ day but on my last table I end up bubbling against two really bad passive players (A9 < QK, A9 < A5, QQ < A6).
Oh well, can't complain.

:)

oh no

The day before yesterday I played 0 games. It was my niece's 3rd birthday but I still had 2hrs of free-time from when I woke up to when I left my house so I could've played a few games at least which is disappointing. By the time I got home I just passed out.

Yesterday I played about 45 games before I had to head out for a pool tournament / meet up with some old friends.

Just woke up, did some facebooking. About to eat something and then get to playing - going to try to make up for the last two lazy days.
I'll update at the end of the day.

Edit: very frustrating day for poker.
Power went out mid-sesh on a few bubbles which really tilted me. My Backup connection (iphone) wouldn't connect, and I ended up losing a ton of equity.
I then found out how to tether (usb) my iphone to my laptop so now if the internet/power goes down here it's just a one-click process to have my phone as my modem. That's really reassuring.
I'm going to be buying a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) soon as well.

Ended up only playing 41 games and making a few hundred.

oktobah

for the past few days i've been only 6-tabling trying some new things in my game. I feel like I'm playing really solid, especially over the last few days - however the results have yet to come with the good play feeling :(

played 48 games today and lost a few hundred, no biggie. just frustrating to see the worst regs running so hot while I continue my bad streak. Going to play a few more after this little entry I just needed to take a break. I'm going to be trying to play 60 games a day which feels like it's going to take forever 6tabling but I'll survive.

don't really have too many poker goals for this month. I just want to play >1,500 games and run >=normal.

Wish me luck

edit: played 62 games today. down $4.31 lol. reached my daily minimum goal :)

o hai dere

I set this blog up to kind of keep me on track or something. I've done a blog before and for some reason it made me feel more committed to my goals and more into my own progress.
I'll try to update as much as I can, but at least once a week.

been running like shit for a while. I know everyone thinks/says they run like shit but they don't and I have. hah.
I'm on like 3.5k-4k games of just insane death super hyper turbo ninja runbad.

working on my game a ton, reviewing with some of the best players, hopefully we can get the run good going one time.
